Hosed

Roaming charges are ridiculous. When I was in Canada for New Years, I racked up some roaming minutes over Roger's wireless network, whatever the hell that is. 79 per minute! Are you kidding me?
It happened to coincide with my discount from work, but I'm still pissed.

1 Pint = 16 oz = 1 lb

I'm not exactly sure if these conversions are 100% correct, but between weighing myself on Monday and today, I gave a pint of blood and lost about 2 pounds. Then again, "blood is thicker than water."
I think I need the density!
(nerd)

Rock On!

I hold in my hands, tickets to see Killswitch Engage at Roseland Ballroom! So kick ass. I don't even care about the other bands, I just need to see and feel KsE.
March 1st can't come soon enough.

New Milestone

Whoo! Sixty minute run. That was a long one. Well, I guess it was more of a jog, but I estimate it to be about seven miles. That much closer to the half marathon ...

Color Me Impressed

You know it takes a lot to impress me, but wow! I met this kid (I can call him a kid because I'm 25 and he's 18) at the hospital who is bursting with energy and enthusiasm to learn and work and be everything he has the potential to be. I am truly amazed.
He has a really good head on him, knows the meaning of hard work and dedication, and is not afraid to face the challenges that lie ahead of him.
It is so uplifting meeting another person like that. It validates what I have been through, and it makes me feel really great knowing that his future is in his own hands. He is taking charge of his destiny because he knows exactly who he is, what he wants, and what he is willing to do to get it.
I am in such a good mood! I only hope the advice I gave him was useful.

New Year's: 2006 - Part 2

Seven Lounge in Toronto. Where the party was at! Decent, although, I probably would have had just as much fun in a club around NJ/NY, but hey at least we were in Canada. Tons (and I do mean tons) of pics were taken to immortalize the night. It came and went so fast and I just wish I could have enjoyed it a little longer. Best thing I learned from this trip; I am not a whiskey drinker.

As for resolutions, here we go:

  1. run a half-marathon
  2. learn Spanish (all over again)
  3. continue to blog
Well, even if 2007 is half as good as 2006 was, I'm going to love it.

New Year's: 2006 - Part 1

Toronto was really fun. Just like any other big city, only Canadian style. Hockey is literally on every tv channel and a Tim Hortons is on every corner. Day 1: We arrived in Toronto from Mark's place in Rochester around 5'ish. You can see the CN Tower from so far out because it's just that big. We check in and set off for a really good dinner, followed by a short hike to a bar. Easy! after all, New Years is the following day.
Day 2: First stop, Chinatown for some dim sum and a hair cut for Alb.
Onward to the Art Gallery of Ontario. The best feature was the wall art by Julian Opie. Pretty erotic for being so minimalistic. It's really powerful considering he's elucidating 3D visuals strictly from bold, lines in 2D. Great stuff.
From there, its back to the hotel for some dinner at a Thai restaurant before the official activities begin ...
